Roman Hoffstetter was a German composer born on April 24, 1742. He lived during the Classical period and is known for his contributions to sacred and instrumental music. Hoffstetter was a Benedictine monk, which influenced much of his compositional output, including masses and other liturgical works.
He died on May 21, 1815, at the age of 73. Hoffstetter's music reflects the stylistic traits of his era, and although not widely famous today, his works are of interest to scholars studying 18th-century sacred music in Germany.
